A local developer had purchased two derelict properties adjoining a new small development, it required underpinning because of shallow foundations in poor condition. Three extensions were also required to the front, rear and rside elevation.

The underpinning scheme involved installing 150mm diameter bottom driven steel cased piles to a depth of 8.0m, which were subsequently connected to 450mm wide by 300mm deep cast in-situ needle beams cast through the existing structural walls. These were tied into a 200mm deep reinforced slab above. Works were completed in 5 weeks.
